Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about managed it services marketing? We have got honest answers.

What does MSP marketing include? expand_more
MSP marketing for an owner-led managed service provider includes local IT support pages for searches like IT support near me and outsourced IT, a plain page on what your agreement covers and how you price, Google Business Profile upkeep, Google Ads split between support, security and project intent with job and software searches excluded, Meta retargeting for owners still weighing a switch, and call and form tracking that reports cost per qualified support inquiry in USD. HeyLead does the marketing. The owner keeps every pricing, stack and scope decision.
Is this page for SaaS founders or an enterprise security firm? expand_more
No. This page is for the owner of a managed service provider with about 5 to 50 staff in the United States that sells multi-year support and security contracts to local small businesses. It is not a page for SaaS founders, not a national software page and not an enterprise security-operations pitch. If you sell software or run a SOC for large enterprises, the marketing is different and this page will not fit.
Which searches actually bring MSP clients? expand_more
Local and plain ones. IT support near me, outsourced IT for small business, IT company with a suburb or town name, managed IT services with a city. Enterprise terms like security operations center, zero trust and managed detection bring consultants, students and vendors rather than a 20-seat firm that needs email fixed by Monday. Security still gets its own page as a service line. It is not the whole site.
How many MSPs are we competing with in the US? expand_more
A blog estimate from MSP Launchpad (30 March 2026) puts the US at 40,000 to 50,000 MSPs, about 70 percent of them with 25 or fewer staff. Canalys counted about 90,000 MSPs worldwide in January 2025. Treat the US figure as a blog estimate rather than a census. The practical point is that most of your competitors are the same size as you, and the one that shows up for the local search and answers plainly gets the first call.
What is one new client actually worth to an MSP? expand_more
As an illustration, not a forecast HeyLead will deliver: one or two new clients a year at USD 1,000 to 7,500 per month on a multi-year contract is the commercial point of the whole exercise. The Kaseya State of the MSP 2026 survey of 1,061 MSPs (21 July 2026), which we read through a secondary summary, reports that the largest segment, 30 percent of MSPs, earns average monthly recurring revenue per client up to USD 1,000, that the segment above USD 7,500 a month is growing, and that 71 percent name customer acquisition their top challenge. Your fee is your decision. We report cost per qualified inquiry against it.
What can our ads and website say about security? expand_more
Section 5 of the FTC Act covers overstated security claims, with the GoDaddy order of May 2025 as the example. Ads name the controls you run and never describe an outcome as certain, and the CMMC RPO mark appears only if the firm is a Cyber AB registered practitioner organization. We never tell a client to display a mark they do not hold, and we never describe a breach as prevented.
What does a click cost for managed IT keywords? expand_more
We have not measured a keyword cost per click for managed IT in the United States, so we do not quote one. The figure we report is cost per qualified support inquiry in USD, because that is the number an owner can set against the monthly fee a new agreement would bring.
Private equity is buying MSPs. Is the owner-led market gone? expand_more
No. N2M Capital's MSP M&A report (June 2026) found private equity in 69 percent of disclosed 2025 MSP deals, and reports MSPs under USD 5 million in revenue trading at 3.0 to 5.0 times EBITDA, with MSSPs at 10 to 14 times. Those are market multiples, not a promise for your firm. The owner-led base is still large, and a firm with a measured local inquiry channel and a plain record of what each agreement costs to win is easier to run and easier to value, whatever the owner decides to do with it.
Does HeyLead run our helpdesk, RMM or security tools? expand_more
No. HeyLead is a marketing agency, not an MSP and not a security vendor. We do not run your helpdesk, your RMM, your PSA or any security tool, and we do not promise a contract, a ticket count, a breach prevented or a certification. We build and measure the pages, the ads and the inquiry path. The owner keeps every pricing, stack and scope decision.
What happens in the first month? expand_more
A free audit of your website, your Business Profile, your tracking and every mark and claim on the site. Then we agree the seat range you serve, the areas you cover and the service lines you want marketed. Anything that stops an owner reaching you, such as a dead form or a wrong phone number, is fixed first. Campaigns and pages follow once tracking records correctly.
