What is AEO or GEO?
Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) mean the same idea. You shape your content so AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Claude can find it, trust it, and quote it in their answers. It builds on SEO, but the goal is to be named in the AI's answer.
How is AEO different from traditional SEO?
SEO aims to rank your pages in Google's results. AEO aims to be the source an AI tool quotes when it writes an answer. That means clear facts, question-and-answer sections, lists, a summary file for AI (llms.txt), consistent naming, and testing in the AI tools themselves. The two work together, and strong SEO helps AEO.
Do I still need traditional SEO if I focus on AEO?
Yes. Most users still start with search, and AI systems often draw from highly-ranked, authoritative sources. AEO adds to SEO. We suggest doing both: fix technical SEO, write helpful content, then add the steps that help AI tools name you.
How do you measure success in AI search?

What is llms.txt and why do I need it?
llms.txt is a plain-text file that gives AI tools a clean summary of your site. It sits next to robots.txt, the file that tells crawlers what they may read. We also update robots.txt so the major AI crawlers are allowed in.
