Analytics for Banks and Credit Unions

Analytics for Banks and Credit Unions

A community bank or credit union has to prove that marketing opens accounts, not only that people visit a page. Analytics links applications, branch appointments and calls to the search or ad behind them, and does so without collecting anything a compliance team would not accept.

For community banks and credit unions that want application starts, appointments and funded accounts traced to their source, with privacy rules and approvals built into the tracking.

Measuring accounts without crossing a privacy line

Context from how your customers search, compare and book.

Banking has a long path and a sensitive one. Someone searches for a car loan, compares two institutions, starts an application, stops, calls the lending desk and finishes in a branch. Analytics must keep that thread together using only what is needed, and leave out account numbers, income, identity details and anything typed into a secure form.

The most important step is usually not on your own website. Online applications often run on a separate secure portal, run by a vendor, on another domain. We connect the two so a visit that began with a search keeps its source until the application is submitted, and we agree with your compliance team exactly which events may be recorded.

Not every goal is the same. A started application, a submitted one, an approved one and a funded account are different steps, and so are a branch appointment, a call to the lending team and a business account request. Each is counted on its own. Product lines such as everyday accounts, auto loans, home loans and business accounts are reported separately.

Some links cannot be made. Members who walk into a branch after seeing a sponsorship, or who call after a mailer, leave little trace. Funded accounts held in your core system can be matched to leads only where policy allows. We say clearly what is measured, what is matched and what is estimated.

How we deliver Analytics

A clear, repeatable process built around how banks and credit unions customers search and decide.

1

Agree what may be tracked

Before any tag goes live, we list each event with your marketing and compliance teams: page views, calculator use, application started, submitted, appointment booked and call made. Nothing is collected beyond the agreed list, and fields on secure forms are never read.

2

Join site and application portal

We set up tracking across your website and the application vendor's domain, so the source survives the hand-off. Where the vendor restricts tags, we use their approved reporting or a unique, non-identifying reference to match counts.

3

Add call and appointment tracking

Tracked numbers go on branch listings, the website and ads, and calls are reported by branch and topic. Appointment forms carry the product and branch. Call recording stays off unless your policy and local rules allow it, with notice.

4

Match funded accounts carefully

Where policy allows, anonymous reference numbers connect funded accounts back to the marketing source. Where it does not, we report the counts your system can share. We never move personal account data into marketing tools.

Report in language a board can read

Each month you receive a summary by product and branch: starts, submissions, appointments, calls and cost per funded account where the data allows. Notes explain gaps, such as an application vendor outage or a change in rates.

Technical approach

The mechanics behind Analytics for banks and credit unions, explained plainly.

Privacy by design

No account numbers, identity details, income or other sensitive fields are ever collected by analytics. Consent notices follow local rules, and reports contain counts and sources only. We document every data flow for your compliance file.

Application vendor limits

Many portals restrict tags for security. We work within those limits, using approved reporting where needed, and we mark in the report which steps are measured directly and which are estimated from the vendor's own counts.

Product and branch structure

Reports are grouped by product, such as auto loans or business accounts, and by branch. Rate pages are tracked separately from application pages, so a change in published rates can be read against interest, not just against sales.

What to expect from analytics

Approval and setup take time because privacy review comes first. Useful comparisons by product need several months of data.

Days 1 to 14

We draft the tracking plan with your marketing and compliance teams, then set up approved tags and tracked numbers. Nothing goes live until the plan is signed off. Early on, you get a first count of site activity, calls and appointments.

Weeks 3 to 8

Cross-domain tracking and matching are tested with the application vendor. You start to see which sources bring submitted applications and which only bring page views. We correct mislabelled events and agree the layout of the monthly report.

Months 3 to 6 and beyond

With several months of data, products and branches can be compared by cost per funded account where matching is allowed. Seasonal patterns, such as spring auto loans, appear. Some paths cannot be traced, and the report separates measured results from estimates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can banks and credit unions track safely? expand_more
Page visits, calculator use, application steps, branch appointments and calls can be tracked in a privacy-safe way, using counts and sources. Secure form fields, account numbers and identity details are never collected.
Can you track funded accounts? expand_more
Where your policy allows, anonymous reference numbers link funded accounts to their marketing source. Where it does not, we report the counts your core system can share. We do not move personal data into marketing tools.
Our application runs on a vendor portal. Can you still measure it? expand_more
Usually yes, within the vendor's limits. We join the website and portal so the source is kept, or use the vendor's approved reports. Credit unions and banks often find that this one connection explains most of their gaps.
Who approves what is tracked? expand_more
You do. We prepare a written plan of events and fields, and your compliance team signs off before launch. Banks and credit unions can revise the plan at any time, and we keep a record of changes.
How do you handle phone calls? expand_more
Tracked numbers show which listing or page produced each call, by branch and topic. Recording is off by default and used only where your policy and local rules allow, with notice to the caller.
Can analytics compare branches or products at credit unions? expand_more
Yes. For banks and credit unions each branch and product line is reported separately, so you can see where an everyday account campaign works and where lending needs more support. We present facts for decisions, not rankings.
Does analytics promise more accounts? expand_more
No. It shows where accounts come from so a bank or credit union can place budgets better. We make no promise of accounts, balances or returns, because results depend on rates, products, community and competing institutions.
