Birmingham is not one pest map. Near the canals in Digbeth and the Jewellery Quarter, towpaths, old brick and converted workshops give rats and pigeons places to live, and there are now flats above.
South of the centre, Selly Oak fills with student houses, so calls surge when tenants leave in summer and arrive in autumn, with bed bugs and mice the usual complaint.
Handsworth and Sparkhill have long terrace rows, and the Soho Road and Stratford Road corridors are lined with restaurants and takeaways that need regular checks. Out in Solihull the homes are larger and detached, so calls are about lofts, gardens, wasp nests under eaves and squirrels.
Each of those areas has its own buyer, and one generic page suits none of them.
