Toowoomba is the regional centre for the Darling Downs, perched on the Great Dividing Range above the Lockyer Valley. That makes it a city with a wide pull: farming families, students at UniSQ, commuters and retirees all use the same shops, agents and trades.
Inside the city the patches are distinct. Older streets in East Toowoomba, Newtown and around Queens Park are full of timber Queenslanders and Federation cottages. Rangeville and Middle Ridge carry established family homes near the escarpment and Picnic Point.
Highfields to the north, and Westbrook, Glenvale and Kearneys Spring to the south and west, are where newer estates keep growing. The Warrego and New England Highways cross the city, and the Second Range Crossing now takes much of the heavy freight around the northern side.
Winters are cold for Queensland, with frosts, so heating is a real trade here. Agents answer to the QLD Office of Fair Trading and many trades hold QBCC licences, all of which stay with your firm.
