What has to be true before you build either page
Building the two pages people actually need when they search
How-to: the emergency page and the planned-quote page
- 1Split the two intents onto two separate URLs. One page for "emergency glass repair" or "board up and replace glass today," one for "replacement windows" or "composite doors," with its own planning-stage content. Don't let one page try to rank for both; Google and your reader both get confused.
- 2Write the emergency headline in the words someone types at 11pm: "Glass broken? We board up and replace today." Write the planned page's headline around the decision they're actually weighing: "New windows for your home, quoted and fitted without the hassle."
- 3Put the phone number and a WhatsApp button in the first screen a phone shows, before any photo gallery or trust badge. On the emergency page, this isn't a design preference, it's the whole job.
- 4State honestly what "same day" means and the cut-off time to still get it. "Call before 3pm for same-day boarding" sets an expectation you can keep, which matters more than sounding fast.
- 5If you show any price, show it VAT-inclusive. A guide range like "Board-up from £180 inc. VAT" is clearer and more defensible under CAP guidance than a bare figure with VAT added at the door.
- 6Add proof that's specific to the job type on each page: your FENSA or CERTASS number and accreditation logos on the replacement page, real before-and-after photos of boarded jobs on the emergency page, not a generic "fully insured" badge with no detail behind it.
- 7Build the planned-replacement page around the actual process: free site measure, typical 6 to 8 week lead time on made-to-measure units, what happens on fitting day, and finance options if you offer them. This is the page where someone wants to feel informed, not rushed.
- 8Keep forms to three or four fields maximum, name, phone, postcode, a one-line description, and put a WhatsApp button next to the form as an equal option, not a smaller afterthought link underneath it.
- 9Wire up GA4 conversions for calls, WhatsApp clicks, and form fills as separate events, each tagged by which page triggered it, so you can see exactly which of the two pages is earning its keep.
- 10Test both pages on a mid-range Android phone with a throttled connection, because the night of a storm is exactly when your mobile traffic spikes and your page needs to load fastest. Aim to pass all three Core Web Vitals, not just the one that's easiest to fix.
- 11Add LocalBusiness and FAQPage schema to both pages so your opening hours, service area, and the answer to "do you fit emergency glass on weekends" can surface directly in search results and AI-generated summaries.
- 12QA the handoff before you launch: call the tracked number yourself, see who picks up, and check they know this call came from the emergency page and what they're expected to say in the first fifteen seconds.
