A tow company lives and dies on the phone. A call that rings out at two in the morning is a lost job, and a call from beyond your coverage burns a dispatcher's time. Analytics ties each call to the search, ad or map listing behind it, so you see which sources send trucks that can actually roll.
For towing owners and dispatch managers who want to know which marketing produces dispatched, paid jobs rather than just ringing phones.
Context from how your customers search, compare and book.
A tow is won or lost in the first minute. The driver searches from the roadside, taps a number and expects a person to answer with a location question and an arrival time. So the useful events are an answered call, a confirmed pickup point, a dispatched truck and a paid job. Page views and clicks come a long way behind.
Most towing demand is urgent, so the path is short and leaves little trace. Nobody fills in a long form from a ditch. They call from a map listing, a search ad or a saved number. Tracking has to start with the phone, and it has to separate roadside calls from planned transport, shop referrals and property work.
Coverage is the hidden leak. A call from a driver two exits past your territory looks like a lead in a raw report but is a cost, because it ties up a dispatcher and ends with a refusal. Good measurement tags each call by pickup area and flags the ones you could not serve, so spend can move away from them.
Some work will always stay invisible. A driver who reads your name off a truck door, or a shop that has your number saved, appears as a direct call. Reports should say so plainly. We show what can be traced, label the rest as unattributed, and never stretch the numbers to look neat.
A clear, repeatable process built around how towing customers search and decide.
We sit down with your dispatcher and list the outcomes: answered, location confirmed, truck sent, job completed, job paid. We also list the losses, such as out of area, price shopper and no answer. That list becomes the tags used everywhere else.
Each channel gets its own tracking number or tagging rule: map listing, search ads, website, and any directory profile. Your main number stays on the trucks and printed material. The web numbers swap in only for visitors who arrive from a tracked source.
After each call your dispatcher or driver app marks the result with one tap or one word. We keep this deliberately light, because a dispatcher on a busy night will not fill in a long form. Missed calls are logged automatically with their time.
We group calls by pickup location against the roads and exits you truly cover. Calls outside that line are counted as cost, with the search or ad that attracted them. This shows where ad targeting and listing wording need tightening.
Each month we send a short written report and talk it through. It covers cost per dispatched job, missed-call hours, best and weakest sources, and what we will change next. Anything we cannot trace is stated, not guessed.

The mechanics behind Analytics for towing, explained plainly.
Numbers swap on the website only for visitors from tracked sources, so a stranded driver always sees a working number with a large call button. Recording is used only where local rules allow, with an announcement, and is mainly for checking how calls are handled.
Calls are matched to jobs through the caller number and time, using the export from your dispatch software or a simple daily sheet. This lets us count completed and paid tows instead of rings, and lets the ad accounts learn from real jobs.
Some callers cannot be traced: truck door readers, saved contacts, referrals from motor clubs and insurers. Reports keep these in their own line. We also note that a map listing call may follow an earlier ad view, so no single source gets all the credit.
Towing analytics setup starts at $500 USD one-time. Ongoing monthly reporting and reviews are scoped separately.
What's included
A short plan naming the calls, forms and bookings that count as a real lead or sale for your business.
Tracking set up and tested so each lead is tied to the search or ad behind it.
A simple report layout and a walkthrough so your team can read it without help.
Monthly reviews, extra dashboards and data clean-up are scoped separately. Talk to us for a fit.
Tracking is quick to set up, but it needs a few weeks of real calls before the patterns mean something.
We agree outcome tags, install numbers and event tracking, and test every path with live calls, including night ones. Early on you mainly learn how many calls go unanswered and when.
Enough calls have come in to compare sources and pickup areas. We share the first full report, point out out-of-area waste and suggest changes to ads, listings and call routing.
Seasonal patterns appear, such as storms, ice and holiday weekends. We use them to plan staffing and budget. Results depend on your call handling as much as on marketing.
